Near-zero poverty and 500 businesses backed

Addu City is committed to achieving zero poverty by building a dynamic, innovative, and digitally enabled economy that creates opportunities for everyone. Through investment in entrepreneurship, future-ready skills, digital infrastructure, SMEs, and improved access to finance and markets, the city will generate quality jobs, empower local businesses, and strengthen economic resilience. Targeted support for women, youth, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups will ensure that every resident has the opportunity to participate in and benefit from sustainable economic growth, leading to greater inclusion, shared prosperity, and an improved quality of life.

Targets

  1. Target 10.1

    Reduce poverty to near zero by 2029.

  2. Target 10.2

    Support 500 businesses and start-ups by 2030.

  3. Target 10.3

    Deliver 100% of Addu City Council services online through a single digital platform, with 90% of transactions completed digitally by 2030.

  4. Target 10.4

    Provide free high-speed public Wi-Fi in major tourism, business, education, healthcare, and public spaces by 2028.

  5. Target 10.5

    Establish a citywide digital marketplace with 500 local businesses and entrepreneurs actively selling products and services online by 2029.

  6. Target 10.6

    Enable 100% of registered businesses to accept secure digital payments and ensure 90% of retail transactions can be completed cashlessly by 2030.
